Here we talk about Affiliate sites, what they are, what purpose they serve in marketing and how to manage your expectations when they share your content.
If you are a camgirl working on one of the big name sites, it is highly likely you will have agreed to be part of their affiliate marketing program when you signed up.
You may have agreed this without realising. Part of the standard registration process on cam sites includes you ticking a box to say you agree to the Terms and Conditions (T's & C's).
T's & C's include a section to outline how you will be marketed. This usually includes automatic inclusion in affiliate marketing. There is not usually an opt-in or opt-out box.
You will not have been able to register and start working on webcam without ticking the box to agree to the T's & C's.
This means by default, registering to a webcam site and ticking the T's & C's box usually means you are registering to their affiliate marketing programs, too.
Affiliate Sites Explained
Affiliates are legitimate partners of cam sites who are authorised to promote any model of that site, on their own websites and marketing channels.
They usually host models' chat rooms and sometimes host their media content in addition.
Affiliate partners provide additional traffic to those models, potentially generating extra sales which models benefit from.
They also receive a cut of any sales they generate for models via their affiliate marketing channels. While this means they make money from your cam shows and content, they do this legitimately.
Note: Their cut almost always comes out of the profits of the originating site, not out of the pockets of the models.
Affiliates promote models of sites they are partnered with on assumption that they have the green light to do so. They have a contractual agreement in place, therefore are exercising their right to do business as per their contract.
Important: Affiliate sites are not the same as pirate sites. Pirate sites market models hosted on cam sites illegally by copying and redistributing content with no agreement and no authorisation in place. They do this without any consideration to the models, and keep 100% of the profits for themselves.

A Balanced View
Affiliate marketing, as you now understand, means models are hosted legitimately on affiliate sites. The result is, you see evidence of such on the search engines.
This includes links, thumbnail images, video previews and often a page with an url under the username you registered on your original site.
Some models welcome it as a free promotion opportunity. They take the view it is driving additional traffic and enabling more potential fans along with monetising customers to find them.
Affiliates can help models raise their profile and gain followers and become established more quickly in the camming world.
On the other hand, there are models who do not welcome being on affiliate sites. They take the view that the additional exposure is entirely unwanted.
They see it as others profiting from their content against their wishes, or diluting their brand across multiple sites when they wish to be exclusive to one.
Some have privacy concerns so they object to affiliate marketing on the basis they feel it is a breach of their privacy.
Working with models on both sides of the fence means we understand there is no strict wrong or right. It is all down to perception and how the individual feels. We always hope to help achieve what is best for them, case by case.
Manage Your Expectations
As a cam model you need to understand why affiliates are there consider your own perceptions on the factors you deem to be pros and cons of inclusion in their marketing programs.
Consider how you feel about affiliate marketing: Does being hosted on them affect you mostly in a positive or a negative way?
We are impartial so we cannot make that decision for you. We of course have your best interests at heart, while we also respect there are contracts and business processes that we cannot interfere with.
By us shedding the light here, we intent to help you to manage your own views and expectations about affiliate marketing.
Depending on the site you are with, you may or may not have the right to choose whether you appear on affiliate sites. Some cam sites do enable models to withdraw themselves from affiliate marketing, should they not wish to appear on their partner sites.
If you are one of those models, you can approach your site's support team to discuss the situation. Ask if it is possible to be excluded from affiliate marketing and inform them of the reasons why you do not wish to take part.
They may or may not be able to accommodate your request. They may uphold the original agreement you ticked on signup, which states there is automatic inclusion in affiliate programs.
However if the site is agreeable to models opting out on request, and take an empathetic view, they will assist.
Either way, if you do not ask for clarification on the subject, you do not know where you stand.
If you take the view that you are happy to be promoted on affiliate sites, please be aware that we do not remove links, images and videos that appear on these sites.
Communication is everything. Let us know your stance on affiliate marketing so we can help you manage your expectations on any content relating to these sites that you see online.
We have your back and will act according to your preferences and best interests.
